It is the ability to understand the people, culture, traditions and social underpinnings that define an area of engagement. This is where BAE Systems’ Human Terrain System (HTS) program comes in. The Human Terrain System (HTS) Program is an initiative of the Army Training and Doctrine Command. It is designed to dramatically improve the methods, tools and means to understand a foreign populace and its cultural dynamics (specifically in Afghanistan and Iraq), and to offer socio-cultural expertise to U.S. command personnel. Those we select will participate in the Cultural Operations Research component of the Human Terrain System program.

Human Terrain Analyst	Regional Studies Analyst	Social Scientist (Cultural Anthropologist)

Candidates will benefit from extensive stateside classroom training before civilian deployment. (These positions will accompany troops on patrol, collecting information and interpreting cultural data to support U.S. commanders.)

Qualifications for Team Leaders (Military experience a must) Former officers, O6/O5 level personnel and Army Special Forces preferred Experience as a principal on a brigade level staff Highly desired candidates will be Special Forces officers with appropriate regional expertise and security clearance A master's degree with recent experience in military exercise planning 20 years of overall military operational experience Qualifications for Team Members: A Bachelor's degree, a master's is desirable Expertise in cultural anthropology, sociology, political science, international relations or a related discipline Research Reachback Subject Matter Experts Ideal candidates will be Social Scientists who are Area Analysts/Specialists with linguistic fluency, or bi-lingual indigenous/expatriates with U.S. Military support experience. Qualifications for Social Scientist Primary Social Scientist requires a PhD or PhD (ABD). Secondary Social Scientist requires a master's, PhD (ABD Acceptable). Discipline in the following cultural anthropology, sociology, political science, international relations or related.
